Franz Kafka (1883-1924)
Franz Kafka was born in Prague, in July 1883, he was the older of six brothers, three sisters and two brothers.
Their sisters were Valerie Kafka, Gabriele Kafka, and Ottilie. His two brothers Georg and Heinrich died when they still had months. His parents were Julie Kafka, and Hermann Kafka.
As in The Metamorphosis, Kafka had a harsh relationship with his father, which led to low self esteem, anxiety, and a life full of struggles.
Kafka was very recognized among his Friends and teachers. He suffered from eating disorders due to problems.
Kafka's first lenguaje was German, but he also speaked fluent Czech and a little of French.
After High School, he assisted to Charles Ferdinand University. He studied chemistry for the first two weeks, and after that, he swiitched to law, a career that his domineering father accepted.
In June 1906, he gratuated from University as a Doctor of Law. He worked an obligatory year of unpaid service.
A year later, Kafka started to work in an Italian Insurance Company, but he was not happy. He worked from 8:00 p.m to 6:00 a.m, he worked there for a year. In 1907, he started to work with the Worker's Accident Insurance Institute for the Kingdom of Bohemia. A couple of promotions confirm that Kafka was a hard working person, while working, he also concentrated on literature.
In 1912, Kafka met Felice Bauer, they were engaged twice in a lapse of two years, but in 1917, their relationship finally came to an end. That same year, Kafka was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He moved to Berlin to concentrate on his writings. There he met Dora Diamant who son became his lover.
Franz Kafka suffered from clinical depression, migraines, insomnia, constipatio, and clinical depression due to excessive stress. He tried to stop this with a balanced diet, but his tuberculosis got worse.
Kafka died on June 3, 1924, he is buried in Prague's New Jewish Cemetery.
